The Division of Environmental Program Support (DEPS) is comprised of four branches:
1. Environmental Services Branch -- provides centralized laboratory testing for the Department for Environmental Protection. Testing supports the department's programs that assess the environmental status of the Commonwealth. These programs include underground storage tanks, groundwater monitoring, Superfund sites, permits and compliance, enforcement, air toxics, and monitoring of rivers, lakes and streams. The nature and extent of pollutants are determined from analyzing samples from air, drinking water, ambient water, wastewater (sewage), sediments/soils, fish, chemicals and wastes. These samples are tested to measure levels of minerals, metals, nutrients, pesticides, herbicides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other priority pollutants.
