Announcement:

As of Sept. 16, 2014, the DEP will no longer be using the Environmental Technologist, Environmental Inspector, Environmental Enforcement Specialist, and Groundwater Hydrologist job classification series titles. Instead, the department will use the recently expanded Environmental Scientist job classification series for positions with these functions. Click on the Environmental Scientist links below to take you to the full position description on the Personnel Cabinet's website. The information below provides a brief description on position titles, grades, salaries, education and experience requirements.

Education Requirements: All of the Environmental Scientist grades require a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
Education Substitution: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Environmental Scientist IV ​15 ​$3,230.84 - $4,280.10 ​Must have five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
Environmental Scientist V ​16 ​$3,553.88 - $4,707.96 ​Must have seven years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
Environmental Scientist Consultant ​17 ​$3,908.91 - $5,178.72 ​Must have eight years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
Environmental Scientist Consultant Senior ​18 ​$4,300.08 - $5,696.60 ​Must have nine years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
